Ms. Faust is an Instructional Technology Specilaist at Alanton Elementary School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She holds a B.S. and M.Ed. degree in Special Education. She has taught in self-contained and resource Special Education classrooms in Tennessee and Virginia. She is also a certified level I elementary Montessori teacher, having taught for four years at the first public Montessori school in middle Tennessee.
The use of technology has always been an important part of her classroom instruction. After 19 years as a Special Education teacher, Ms. Faust moved into the world of instructional technology, working with teachers and students in grades K-5.
Ms. Faust has earned a certification from the ISTE NETS-T program in instructional technology. She has also taken an active role in training teachers from across the Virginia Beach City Public Schools district on the use and instructional benefits of interactive whiteboards. She is a certified Promethean ActivInstructor and BrainPop Educator. Ms. Faust is a frequent presenter at the annual VSTE (Virginia Society for Technology in Education) Conference and the Virginia Council for the Social Studies Conference.
For two years she participated in the SAIL Program (Teaching American History Grant) for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. During the summer of 2013, she received a fellowship to attend the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute. She considers herself an amateur local historian, spending her off hours as a docent at the Old Coast Guard Station on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. During her 14 years as a faculty member, she served as school historian for W.T. Cooke Elementary School, the oldest public school in the city of Virginia Beach. In August 2015, Ms. Faust became the Instructional Technology Specialist at Alanton Elementary School in Virginia Beach, VA. Her other interests include reading, cooking, genealogy, traveling and anything British.
